The Markets, Public Gins and Warehousing Division was responsible for issuing the Public Ginner Permits required of all cotton ginners in Alabama (1927 Agric. Code, Article 31, Section 347). (Currently, the Gins and Warehouses section of the Weights and Measures/Gins and Warehouses Division is responsible for this function. [Ala. Code, 2-19-61, <1975>]). This record consists of carbon copies of ginner permits issued by the agency. Information in the record includes the name of the gin proprietor, lesses or manager, the number of gins, the location of the ginnery, and date.
